The collection consists of tools for processing textile raw materials of plant (flax, hemp, rush broom) and animal (wool, sackcloth, silk) origin, devices and machines for fabric production and shaping, as well as samples of the aforementioned raw materials in various stages of processing. The total number of objects in the Collection is 2054 (2016). Most of the objects date back to the end of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century, while the localities cover a wider area of Croatia and several neighboring countries. In the Collection there are fulling mills, swingles, combs, distaffs, spindles and spinning wheels that were used to release and clean the fibers and then produce the thread for weaving. The preparation of the yarn for weaving is represented by two types of swifts (cross and vertical), a warp, and several types of wefts, while the group of tools for the production of cloth consists of a loom or grid and a horizontal and vertical loom. Artistically, symbolically and historically, the collection of distaffs with spindles (1119 catalogue entries) is particularly noteworthy, the oldest of which date back to the 18th century. The collection is continuously, but in a reduced way, replenished by collecting objects of contemporary everyday life and, exceptionally, rare or missing traditional pieces from the class.
